Kevin Michael Murphy
Founder & Voice Teacher
Kevin Michael Murphy (Founder & Voice Teacher) is currently a voice teacher at NYU(Steinhardt) in addition to being a voice teacher and co-founder of the NYC Vocal Studio. Kevin’s voice students have appeared on Broadway and in National Tours of: Aladdin, Something Rotten, Wicked, School of Rock, Spring Awakening, Lysistrata Jones, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Mamma Mia, West Side Story, Jersey Boys, The Lion King, and Hairspray. Kevin holds a M.A. in Vocal Performance from NYU, and B.M. in Musical Theater from James Madison University.
As an actor, Kevin was an original company member of the First National Tour of the Tony Award winning musical, The Book of Mormon. Other credits include the Off-Broadway production of The Awesome 80’s Prom,in addition to With Glee,and The Happy Embalmer at NYMF. Kevin is the creator/star ofCraig Stevens Guide to Making it On Broadway and the Bistro Award winning concert series, If It Only Even Runs a Minute, which have both played to sold out houses around NYC.
Founder & Voice Teacher
Molly McCarthy-Egan is currently an adjunct voice professor at NYU(Steinhardt) in addition to being a voice teacher and founder at NYC Vocal Studio. Molly’s voice students have performed in National Tours and Regional productions throughout the country including: The Rockette's Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Fiddler on the Roof(Nat’l tour), Bullets Over Broadway(Nat’l Tour), Die Fledermaus(Metropolitan Opera) The Iceman Commeth(BAM) Billy Elliott(Nat’l Tour), A Christmas Carol(Nat’l Tour) as well as many local NYC Off Broadway and downtown theatre productions.
As a singer and actor Molly has performed extensively across the country and internationally. Most recently Molly performed her solo concert “TimePiece” at the Metropolitan Room in New York City. Molly graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelors of the Arts in Vocal Performance(Classical Voice), her Masters in Music(Musical Theatre Voice) from New York University(Steinhardt), and her Post Masters Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University.
Most recently Molly has also expanded into the world of creative and life coaching, adding this great passion of hers to the arsenal of NYC Vocal Studio. Creative and life coaching in the setting of the voice studio, opens up the opportunity to bring the critical mind/soul work we humans and performers face everyday, alongside our work as vocal technicians and singing actors. Molly is certified in the TCM Method(Transformational Coaching Method).
Associate Voice Teacher
Aimee is a Minnesota native who comes to New York by way of Chicago where she received her bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago in theatre performance. Aimee worked around Chicago doing regional productions of FAME, RENT, Big Fish, and The Next Thing You Know among others. She serves as a company member for Refuge Theatre Project in Chicago as well. She moved to New York in 2015 and attended NYU for a master's degree in vocal performance and pedagogy which she completed in May. Aimee is so excited to be teaching and performing around New York and is honored to be working with Kevin and Molly at NYC Vocal Studio.
Curtis Reynolds is an actor, music director, and vocal coach living in NYC. He received his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance (Musical Theatre) from New York University. While pursuing a degree in voice, Curtis also worked at NYU as a pianist and private vocal coach. After graduating Curtis continued to work as a staff pianist at NYU and pursued other performance opportunities as an actor and music director. He also regularly works as a private voice coach to students and professionals, and he is excited to be expanding his practice with NYC Vocal Studio!
Associate Voice Teacher
Matthew Hougland is a NYC based Teaching Artist, Actor, Singer, Music Director and Pianist with a passion for education and being a life-long learner. Matthew holds a M.M. in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from NYU Steinhardt and a B.M. from Anderson University in Music Education. He is currently on staff at the Professional Performing Arts School in Midtown Manhattan, NYU Steinhardt and now the NYC Voice Studio!
Matthew’s performance credits include Chicago (Theatre By the Sea, Peregrine Theatre Ensemble - Broadway World Award Winner), Sister Act, Amour, Life of the Party, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Boys from Syracuse, and A Catered Affair.
Before moving to NYC, Matthew was an award winning high-school choir director in Indianapolis, IN. Matthew performs regularly around the city at various venues and events and can be seen running on the streets of NYC training for the next marathon!
